PRE-CLAIM QUESTIONS
Why choose Global Cover and not my insurer?
By choosing Global Cover to manage your claim, you benefit from the following:
- A replacement vehicle comparable to your own (not just what, if any, vehicle the repairer has available).
- We carry out the repairs to your vehicle – increasingly important with modern cars being so complex.
- We deal with all aspects of the claim on your behalf – so you can get on with your life and just return our car when you collect your own.
- Your No Claims Bonus (NCB) will not be affected if your insurer does not have to pay for anything.
Will it cost me anything, or is it a free service?
We cover the charges for you, which is why it is called Credit Hire, so you don't have to.
You are legally responsible for the hire charges, but we will claim them on your behalf from the fault party.
If we are not able to recover the hire charges from the fault party, provided you have complied with the terms of the rental agreement (which includes co-operating with us throughout your claim), the hire charges will be written off.
This is known as a contingent liability or, simply, no win no fee.
What documentation do I need?
You’ll need to have your policy number and keep incident details to hand, such as dates, reference numbers and receipts, and we’ll guide you through the rest.
What type of car will I get?
We will endeavor to provide you with a replacement vehicle that is like-for-like or equivalent to your own.
"Like for like" or "equivalent" is a broad description of our service. We aim to provide you with a vehicle as close as possible to your own.
Do I have to notify my insurer, and will my premium be impacted?
You are likely to be required to notify your insurer for information purposes only under the terms and conditions of your policy.
Concerning the effect on premiums, insurers consider many factors when setting premiums, and we can't advise on whether it will affect your premium. You will need to speak to your insurer directly.
What is Credit Hire and Credit Repair?
Credit Hire is when a temporary replacement vehicle is provided by a Credit Hire Organisation (CHO) in the event of a non-fault road traffic accident. The CHO funds the car hire whilst your vehicle is being repaired. The CHO will then claim the hire charges from the at-fault party's insurer.
Credit Hire Organisations can also offer Credit Repair, subject to their terms and conditions. We will cover the costs to repair your vehicle to be repaired and again claim back from the at-fault party's insurer.
Global Cover is a Credit Hire Organisation that provides temporary replacement vehicles, equivalent or similar to your own, in the event of a non-fault road traffic accident and also Credit Repairs in many circumstances, subject to our terms and conditions.
We take care of the entire claims process, from the recovery of your vehicle if it is not drivable to the provision of a temporary replacement vehicle, management of the repair process, and liaising with all the relevant parties involved to keep them updated until your vehicle is returned, or in the event of a Total Loss, your vehicle valuation has been paid.
How long will my claim take?
Because each claim is different, we can't give a firm time frame, but we will deal with your claim as quickly as possible and update you as the claim progresses.
How will I be kept up-to-date about my claim?
We’ll keep you updated using the contact details you gave us when you made your claim.
